Unlocked game the world
Less than three years ago the Washington Nationals were on top of the baseball world. They completed an improbable run to grabbing the 2019 World Series championship after being a) 19-31 on May 23, b) down two runs in the eighth inning of the Wild Card Game, c) down two runs in the eighth inning of NLDS Game 5, and d) down three games to two in the World Series. https://sodajerksrestaurant.com/marvel-movie-and-series-timeline-correct-sequence-2024/ The 2019 Nationals refused to die.
A team doesn’t fall this far, this fast without a lot going wrong. Here are four reasons the Nationals have gone from World Series champion to last place team (and trading away Soto) in three years’ time.
Baseball America ranked Washington’s system 12th in baseball in 2018, the year before they won the World Series. It is the last time they ranked in the top half of the league. Look at their top five prospects that year:

Who is hot and who is not?Dodgers: Edman continues his hot hitting, following up a two-hit Game 1 with a solo homer and a double in Game 2. Freeman has also homered in back-to-back games, extending his World Series home run streak to four games.
Yankees: Jose Trevino got the start in Game 3 over Austin Wells, who has gone 4-for-41 this postseason and 1-for-8 over the first two World Series games. Rizzo and Volpe flipped spots in the order from Games 1 and 2.
“I’m super proud of Zane,” Cortez said. “It’s not the easiest thing to go out there in the championship game. He’s the older guy. I always had a hard time starting and he went out there and did his thing.”
Despite Tennessee’s effort to gain runs back in the final innings, Texas A&M’s massive third inning and lockdown defense sealed its Game 1 win, 9-5. The Aggies set the tone with a leadoff homer from Gavin Grahovac and didn’t let off the gas in the third, plating five with Kaeden Kent’s two-RBI single as the exclamation point. The Aggies did not err once defensively as the Vols racked up three errors, one resulting in an A&M RBI. Evan Aschenbeck secured the win, pitching 2.2 innings while striking out seven and allowing two hits and no walks.
The Gators forced a final game with a 24-4 drubbing of LSU. But the Tigers returned the favor in Game 3, dominating with a 14-run win to win the seventh national championship in program history. After falling behind 2-0 in the first, the Tigers scored six in the second to never look back.
Game 5 world series
• Giancarlo Stanton hit his 18th postseason homer — two more than any other player in his first 41 postseason games. His seven this October set a record for most in a single postseason in the Yankees’ storied history.
Instead of using the same lineup they employed against Flaherty in Game 1, the Yankees will go with their Game 4 lineup, which produced 11 runs and featured Jazz Chisholm Jr. at cleanup, one spot ahead of Giancarlo Stanton.
• The Dodgers and Yankees had a World Series preview June 7-9 at Yankee Stadium, with Los Angeles winning two of the three games. Teoscar Hernández had a go-ahead, two-run double in the 11th inning of the first game, a 2-1 Dodgers win, then hit two homers in an 11-3 rout the next night. The Yanks salvaged the finale with a 6-4 win, powered by Trent Grisham’s three-run homer off Tyler Glasnow.
Who is hot and who is not?Dodgers: Freeman continues his dominant World Series run, hitting a homer in all four games against the Yankees. The star first baseman has now hit a homer in six consecutive games in the Fall Classic, a new record. He also has 10 RBIs in the four games. If the Dodgers wrap it up, Freeman will likely be taking home his first World Series MVP trophy.
