World game
NEW YORK — Assuming the voting results for the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and the Yankees’ Aaron Judge go as we expect them to go (hint: they will), this is only the seventh World Series to feature that season’s two MVPs.< https://quimica-ufabc.com/ /p>
Through two games against the Dodgers, Judge is 1-for-9 with six strikeouts. For the postseason as a whole, he’s 6-for-40 with 19 strikeouts. It’s a far cry from a regular season in which Judge’s 58 homers, 144 RBIs and 1.159 OPS made for one of the best performances by a right-handed hitter in history.
Despite Tennessee’s effort to gain runs back in the final innings, Texas A&M’s massive third inning and lockdown defense sealed its Game 1 win, 9-5. The Aggies set the tone with a leadoff homer from Gavin Grahovac and didn’t let off the gas in the third, plating five with Kaeden Kent’s two-RBI single as the exclamation point. The Aggies did not err once defensively as the Vols racked up three errors, one resulting in an A&M RBI. Evan Aschenbeck secured the win, pitching 2.2 innings while striking out seven and allowing two hits and no walks.

Where to play: PlayStation 5You can tell Astro Bot is effusively charming and adorable simply by looking at it. Less obvious? It’s also rebellious. Levels are packed with creative gimmicks like time manipulation, grappling hooks, and jetpacks. But some marquee stages are comically inventive, featuring mechanics that leave you nodding and smiling and shaking your head, wondering how the hell the developers got away with it. —Ari Notis
I still think about three moments in The Last of Us at least once a week. The first is when Joel’s life changes in a moment in the game’s intro. The second moment arrived late into the game and demanded I make a certain gameplay choice because that’s how Joel would act, even if it wasn’t what I wanted to do. That dissonance struck me, but made so much sense. This was Joel and Ellie’s story I was experiencing, and those characters feel so real thanks to the script, animation, and Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson’s stellar performances. The Last of Us marries its storytelling with its gameplay, and nothing made me feel more than that last moment. The game’s final discussion between its two protagonists is filled with so much emotional weight because of their experience – because of what you experienced – that it’s difficult to think of another ending so perfectly true to this unforgettable experience. – Jonathon Dornbush (Read Our Review)
Where to play: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series XThere have been a lot of games that have drawn my eye (and my time) this year. The pure delight of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The nonstop hilarity of Helldivers 2. The haunting landscape of Pacific Drive. But no game has truly grabbed me in 2024 like Balatro. There’s just nothing quite like the alluring pull of a roguelite that keeps you coming back for just one more run.Balatro takes the bones of poker and adds roguelite mechanics and a healthy dash of math to create an irresistible experience in the “number go up” genre of games. It’s the most fun you’ll ever have with PEMDAS, especially as you unlock more mechanics that encourage you to break the game. The end result is a simple concept with a lot of strategic depth and endless replayability. Solo developer LocalThunk has created an absolute winner in Balatro, no matter how you pronounce it. —Pete Volk

When is the next world series game
“Obviously, we’re in a tough position,” Cole had said prior to the 11-4 victory at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, “but there’s a lot of baseball left to be played and anything can happen. We’re excited to get back out there. Hey, we’re still in the World Series. Hey, we’re in the Bronx. We’ve still got a shot at this thing.”
“We know what’s at stake,” Freeman said. “We’ve got a chance to be champions, and we know they’ve got nothing to lose, and they’re going to come out and do everything they can. It’s our job to go out there and hopefully put together another good ballgame.”
But what happened 20 years ago forever remains a reminder that a 3-0 series can still be salvaged for the trailing team. For the Yankees to pull that off, their lumbering lineup, which is batting .186 as a team in this World Series, is going to have to get it going in a game in which the Dodgers will be going the all-reliever route.
Yankees: RHP Gerrit Cole (8-5, 3.41 ERA during regular season)Cole limited the Dodgers to one run on four hits over six-plus innings in Game 1 at Los Angeles, striking out four without a walk. This postseason, he is 1-0 with a 2.82 ERA in four starts, though he has not exceeded 89 pitches in any of those outings.
